Hi,

I had a bit of trouble getting this working. This is what I did:

(System: Windows 7 ultimate 64bit GNS3 v0.8.1 VBE all-in-one)

1) Create a loopback interface in windows
    i) Device Manager
ii) Right click on 'top' entry (in my case 'Rob-Laptop')
    iii) Click 'Add legacy hardware'
iv) select 'install hardware that I manually select from a list'
    v) select 'network adaptors'
vi) select manufacturer 'microsoft' and network adaptor 'Microsoft Loopback Adaptor'

2) Configure the new loopback interface:
    i) Open control panel and select 'network and sharing centre'
    ii) Select 'Change adapter settings'
iii) Double click the new loopback interface
    iv) click on 'properties'
    v) double click on 'internet protocol version 4'
vi) manually assign the ip address 192.168.15.1 255.255.255.0
    vii) Click 'ok'

3) Reboot your PC

4) Open GNS3 and follow the video guide. When configuring the cloud, select the loopback interface, rather then the physical interface as stated in the guide. Configure the router as instructed in the guide and you should be able to ping 192.168.15.1 (the IP address of the loopback) - i.e. GNS3 router is now communicating with your windows desktop

5) When launching 'Cisco IP Communicator' do it via the start menu. Right click on the program and select 'run as administrator' (this a is very important step and will allow you to configure the network settings for this 'device') .

6) Right click on the Cisco IP phone and select 'preferences'. Now select the 'network' tab. Ensure that 'Microsoft Loopback Adapter' is selected as the 'network adapter'. Ensure that the TFTP server option is set to 'Use these TFTP servers' and 'TFTP Server 1' = 192.168.15.6

7) Click OK

Your 'phone' should now register with the router in GNS as shown in the video guide.

I couldn't work out why the guide was attempting to ping 192.168.15.1 when it hadn't been mentioned before in the guide.

I hope that helps anybody struggling like I was.

Cannot currently create files. Please verify CME configuration or wait until p revious file generation is complete, and then re-issue this command.

Hi All,
please help me with this one. I am not able to figure this one out since last 2 days...
I am using GNS for A voice lab. i have chosen 3700 series router 3725 router .. and by using a cloud i am able to ping my laptop which is acting as a TFTP server for time bieng for the router 3725 .

{NOW just to share i did this lab 1 month back sucessfully and i dont what ghost is there in the router which is not letting the magic happen this time..}

I issue the command

archive tar /xtract tftp://192.168.15.12/cme-full-7.0.0.0.tar flash:
and all the tar files gets extract to the flash of my router. (virtual flash in GNS.)

Then i make aliases

tftp-server flash:/phone/7945-7965/apps45.8-3-2-27.sbn alias apps45.8-3-2-27.sbn
tftp-server flash:/phone/7945-7965/cnu45.8-3-2-27.sbn alias cnu45.8-3-2-27.sbn
tftp-server flash:/phone/7945-7965/cvm45sccp.8-3-2-27.sbn alias cvm45sccp.8-3-2-27.sbn
tftp-server flash:/phone/7945-7965/dsp45.8-3-2-27.sbn alias dsp45.8-3-2-27.sbn
tftp-server flash:/phone/7945-7965/jar45sccp.8-3-2-27.sbn alias jar45sccp.8-3-2-27.sbn
tftp-server flash:/phone/7945-7965/SCCP45.8-3-3S.loads alias SCCP45.8-3-3S.loads
tftp-server flash:/phone/7945-7965/term45.default.loads alias term45.default.loads
tftp-server flash:/phone/7945-7965/term65.default.loads alias term65.default.loads
tftp-server flash:/phone/7945-7965/apps37sccp.1-1-1-1.bin alias apps37sccp.1-1-1-1.bin

after creating the aliases i hit LOAD command and

load 7945 SCCP45.8-3-3S.loads

As given in books when we hit load command i should get updating CNF files prompt.

CME_Voice(config-telephony)# load 7960 P00308000500
Updating CNF files
CNF files updating complete

BUt i dont get any.. however the command gets accepted..

secondly, when i try to create the cnf files manually

and issue the command create cnf-files
I GET THE ERROR

Cannot currently create files. Please verify CME configuration or wait until previous file generation is complete, and then re-issue this command.

Please suggest how can i solve this problem..

I have tried..

Reinstalling GNS and loading the image..for the router..
I have tried deleting the temp folder and trying all the steps again.

Thanks in advance

i can do it ¡¡¡ until I read your post, I can't setup gns3 for work with cme-full-4.3.0.0.tar, thank you for you help, now I can practice for my ccna voice

"for those who have problems with the “achive /xtract” command (especially with creating directories).

Here’s a possible solution…

First erase the flash:
cme#erase flash:
Erasing the flash filesystem will remove all files! Continue? [confirm]
Erasing device… eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee …erased
Erase of flash: complete

And afterwards format it:
cme#format flash:
Format operation may take a while. Continue? [confirm]
Format operation will destroy all data in “flash:”. Continue? [confirm]
Current Low End File System flash card in flash: will be formatted into DOS File System flash card! Continue? [confirm]

Now, “archive” will create the directories:
