GNS3 Update: Integrate Natively with ASA and JunOS using Qemu
November 30th, 2009
For those of you who have been struggling integrating GNS3 with ASA as well as with JuniperOS , there is good news for you. Now, you can integrate GNS3 natively with ASA/Juniper OS using latest GNS3 release. This feature has been provided by integrating GNS3 with Qemu. Both JunOS as well as ASA can be simulated/emulated using Qemu. By integrating both together, you can emulate Cisco Routers/Juniper Routers and ASA all under one interface .
If you haven’t yet downloaded GNS3 0.7 Release Candidate 1 , do it now.Kudos to GNS3 team esp. Jeremy Grossman for keeping the project alive.
Here are the additional inks for your reference :

Let the fun begin !
Thanks for update
Two Great news in one!!!
Thank you!
Hi, I think it is fantastic that GNS3 integrates Cisco and Juniper systems. I hope you could post a video tutorial about how it is possible to do that. At GNS3 site there is a How To Guide, but it was done previously and not considering newer GNS3 features.
At this moment I don´t know how to use Junos in GNS3.
Excelent work, we will wait for a tutorial for both ASA and juniper Router.
Thank you very much
waiting for the tutorial for juniper and ASA……gns3 explanation from jeremy is not well explained and confusable…he explained it for linux machine ,i am using windows platform ,could u put a video tutorial “how to successfully integrate ASA and juniper in windows platform”?
step by step tutorial plzz…is very much appreciated……waiting for it………..thx for the gud work…
At present GNS3 is at Release Candidate 1 ,and i am running into few bugs while running it in windows . I am waiting for final release to come out.
Having said that, you can still integrate GNS3 with ASA using old way.If you have already emulated ASA using Qemu and have it connected to LAN/TAP interface ,you can communicate back and forth between ASA and GNS3 routers .
As soon as final release will be out,i will post tutorial.
Thanks.
GNS3 : How to emulate ASA in Ubuntu 9.10 Linux…
In this article, i will show you how you can emulate Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) in Ubuntu Linux 9.10 ( Karmic Koala ).Also be aware that ASA does not 100% work in Qemu but that’s enough to play with it.I used “asa802-k8.bin” for this…
Thanks to Jeremy N team. Good work! The Juniper stuff is a great breakthrough.
Kudos.
I hate to say it but GNS3 blows. I have yet to find a good “how to” or tutorial for configuration. Installing GNS3 is easy but getting anything to work is a non starter. I just want a couple of ASA’s so I can practice VPN setups. They are actually listed in “Emulated devices” but I can’t find a doc in english that says “how to”. I have the IOS and I have the unpacker and the .bin has been unpacked. OK now what? I know that if there was one good description from start to finish it would be allot easier past that point to figure out the rest.
@Joe, there are plenty of good tutorials out there. If you are focusing on JunOS, check GNS3 site documentation link which should be helpful to you.
Thanks
